About Us

Our Way Cafe has been proudly serving its loyal customers quality, down home, country-cookin' since 1992. Started as a lunch-only establishment in the then small town of Decatur, Georgia by local businesswomen Eva Roswall and Susan Samford, Our Way Cafe quickly built up the reputation of serving good, homemade comfort food with ample portions and friendly service at affordable prices. The cafeteria-style establishment became the place for lawyers, construction workers, businessmen and women, school teachers, senior citizens, law enforcement, college students and families to gather together and be comforted by homemade staples like meatloaf with tomato chutney, hand-chopped collard greens and fresh-cut creamed corn.

Owners Eva Roswall and Jody McFerrenThe cafe eventually outgrew its old location at 303 East College Avenue next to Agnes Scott College and moved further down the road to its current and much larger location at 2831 East College Avenue, (the old Avondale Estates VFW Bingo Hall) located in the Twin Oaks Shopping Center across from the historic Waffle House located in Avondale Estates. In 2005, Susan moved to Tennessee, and co-owners Eva Roswall and local artist and graphic designer Jody McFerren spent the next few years transforming Our Way Cafe into the laid-back and eclectic, neighborhood lunch and dinner venue it is today. Now open Monday through Friday 11A.M. 'till 8P.M., the newly renovated restaurant conjures up nostalgia with its walls and ceilings thoughtfully covered in antiques, wooden crates, old tools, knickknacks, vintage chandeliers and whimsical treasures found by Jody and Eva or donated by our loyal customers.

As for the food, Our Way Cafe now serves five to seven delicious entrees daily including a vegetarian selection every Tuesday and Thursday. Our spinach tofu pot pie, black bean burritos, twice-baked potatoes, eggplant lasagna, coconut tofu curry and tomato pie are a vegetarian's delight, just to name a few. Aside from our weekly and everyday staples like meatloaf, baked chicken, salmon loaf, Bar B Q and roast pork, chicken enchiladas and baked chicken salad, our specialty entrees can be sampled every month including southern comfort standbys like chicken pot pie, stuffed cabbage, shepherd's pie, spicy Cajun sausage, beef burritos, beef lasagna, pot roast, and sweet and sour meatballs. Our more unique entrees that can only be found at Our Way Cafe include tater tot casserole; potato, ham and broccoli bake; jalapeno chicken melts; and our most popular of the bunch...chili dog casserole! Try it, we know you'll like it!interior of Our Way Cafe

Over twenty side selections can be found on the menu every day including healthy steamed vegetables, heart-warming casseroles and mouthwatering desserts. At Our Way Cafe, all of our vegetables are meat-free with the exceptions of our squash or broccoli casseroles and our seasonal cornbread dressing.

We have been featured in USA Today, National Geographic Explorer, Atlanta Magazine, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Creative Loafing and appear regularly as the "Best" on CitySearch.com.
